Typically, the first line of contact for most administrative issues (e.g., progression from one year to another, crediting bursaries on bank accounts, study visas and permits of stay etc.) is their home university. IIT offers further admin assistance and above all scientific supervision and services to improve career perspectives (e.g., transferable skills, internships in IIT offices etc.).
NOTE: For any immigration matter (non-EU citizens, see guidelines), and in any case for all matters related to your arrival and settling in Italy (EU citizens, see guidelines), your home university is your primary support.
Guest student
For whom this position is: students pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree, or enrolled in a PhD programme, who wish to have an internship at IIT (not as an integral part of their curriculum = no credit attached).
Procedure
Upon positive feedback, you will be put in contact with the admin assistant (aka PA) of the IIT research group, who – keeping both you and the IIT Human Capital directorate in the loop – will then liaise with the admin offices of your Universities and elaborate a 3-way agreement.

Visit our "Agreement Full List". If your University is not listed, please contact your appropriate office to see and try to establish an agreement compatibly with your study schedule. If it is listed, proceed to point 3 or 4.
In case of positive feedback, the two supervisors (at University and at IIT) informally agree on a project.
