Elise Allix-Desfautaux is a Research Support Administrative Junior at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Genoa, Italy, where she has worked since 2024. She works on communication and programme management for the Technologies for Sustainability Flagship (SUSTech), which brings together more than 200 researchers across 38 laboratories on sustainable energy, materials circularity, green robotics and water.
Her profile is built on the three dimensions of ESG (environmental, social and governance), with communication as the way to put them into practice.
Environmental: Master's degree in Governance of the Ecological Transition at AgroParisTech, and an Erasmus+ year in politics and sustainability at the University of Konstanz.
Social: six months in IIT's Diversity, Inclusion and Social Impact Office, where she wrote the Institute's official English-language Guide to Inclusive Language and later co-authored a paper on the topic.
Governance: Bachelor's and Master's degree at Sciences Po Saint-Germain-en-Laye, an institute of political studies.
Communication: one year in IIT's Communication and External Relations Directorate.
She also applies this approach beyond SUSTech. At IIT, she has helped organise two clothing swap events and a campaign against harassment.
Researchers can contact her to share results, plan events or prepare outreach for SUSTech. Colleagues with ideas for ESG-related initiatives at IIT, or who need help finding the right people within the Institute, are also welcome to get in touch.
