Our goal is that everyone at IIT feels respected, valued and able to give their best, regardless of background or identity. We promote well-being as a core part of our organizational culture.

Respectful conduct at work
We do not tolerate harassment, bullying or discrimination in any form.
Everyone has the right to work and learn in an environment grounded in dignity, fairness and mutual respect. Definitions, expected standards of behaviour and confidential reporting channels are set out in IIT’s Code of Behavior and Scientific Conduct. Access to the whistleblowing platform is available via the Transparency section of the IIT website.

Gender Equality Plan (GEP)
The Gender Equality Plan (GEP) is IIT’s strategic tool to advance gender equality and inclusion, in line with European requirements. It sets objectives, actions and indicators to address inequalities in recruitment and career progression, pay, leadership and decision-making, work–life balance, and the integration of the gender dimension into research contents. Progress is monitored and reported to strengthen shared accountability across the Institute.

Mental Wellbeing
Mental health is essential to individual and organisational wellbeing. IIT offers a confidential psychological support service delivered by qualified professionals operating under high professional and ethical standards. The service is available in both English and Italian, to ensure accessibility in our international community. Support is provided through targeted packages of sessions, designed to respond to specific needs and help people navigate stress, work–life balance and personal challenges with continuity and care.

Parental Support
IIT supports parenting and care responsibilities as part of its commitment to an inclusive working environment. Alongside dedicated measures described on IIT’s Parenthood page, we invest in practical support that helps families manage peak-care periods. In particular, the Children Edutainment Voucher partially covers certified summer camps and educational activities, helping families during school breaks and supporting continuity in research, innovation and services.

Gender Dimension in Research & Inclusive Communication
IIT promotes inclusive research by encouraging attention to sex/gender and intersectional perspectives in research content and processes, as well as in research outputs and dissemination. In particular, teams are encouraged to consider inclusion and accessibility when communicating results to scientific communities, stakeholders and the public. Respectful and inclusive communication is expected in everyday work and online interactions, across our international and bilingual environment. The Inclusive Language Guide (EN/IT) offers practical examples and quick alternatives for internal and public-facing content.
