IIT provides its staff with a set of options that promote flexibility:

  • Teleworking: Employees, both technical and administrative staff, can work remotely up to 2 days a week.
  • Flexible hours: Employees can choose to start and end their workday within the time frames of 8-10 am and 5-7 pm for full-time workers, or as per written agreements for part-time workers.
  • Extra leave: In addition to legally mandated leave, IIT offers its employees additional leave, for example, for medical visits and medical treatments. Additionally, IIT promotes the personal and professional growth of its employees by providing specific study leave.
  • Join the science: We also celebrate research achievements and share our intitute's mission. Every IIT employee has the chance to contribute to the scientific process by participating in laboratory experiments using special leave.
  • Time bank: Employees can also choose to convert overtime hours into extra leave.
  • Work-life balance in science: Science is not a 9-5 job. At IIT, scientific staff enjoys great flexibility in organizing their time. In accordance with IIT's policies and procedures, laboratories are accessible 24/7.

Embarking on parenthood marks the commencement of a significant new life chapter, and IIT is committed to providing comprehensive support to its staff throughout this journey. Balancing parenthood alongside research commitments can pose challenges, which is why IIT scientific staff can temporarily pause, "stop of the clock", their collaboration contract and the evaluation of scientific results during the mandatory maternity period. The relationship resumes at the end of this period, ensuring equitable treatment and mitigating any adverse effects on career opportunities.

Employee staff (technicians and administrators) can take advantage of all the measures established by current regulations to safeguard and support parenthood. These measures include parental leave and childcare leave for childcare, which are applicable even in the case of adoption and guardianship.

IIT aims to provide increasingly comprehensive assistance to parents, for example, through agreements with nurseries and schools, and by organizing activities that create a family-friendly environment. Furthermore, IIT offers special edutainment programs for staff members' children, where expert coaches guide them through fun and interactive learning experiences focused on coding and robotics.
