About
Carlotta Pucci received her Master Degree in Chemistry at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" (Italy) in 2011. In December 2014, she obtained her Ph.D. in Chemical Science (label “Doctor Europaeus") at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", under the supervision of Prof. Camillo La Mesa, in collaboration with the Institut de Quimica Avançada de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain) and the Dept. of Biology and Biotechnology “Charles Darwin” of the University “La Sapienza”, where she performed part of her work as a PhD visiting student. Her PhD project focused on the formulation and characterization of synthetic vesicles and the study of their interaction with biomacromolecules, especially nucleic acids, for non-viral gene delivery applications. From January 2015 to October 2015 she worked as a Research Fellow at the University of RomaTre, performing GC/MS analysis of the volatile compounds of extra virgin olive oil From November 2015 to October 2017 she worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher between the Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal and the Laboratoire de Chimie et de Polimère Organique (Bordeaux, France), being awarded the “University of Bordeaux Initiative of Excellence” fellowship. Here she studied the effect of different formulation parameters on the morphology, stability and self-assembly mechanism of polymer nanoparticles. The project aimed at investigating the fundamental aspects of polymer self-assembly from the thermodynamic and kinetic point of views. From October 2017 to May 2018 she continued working in the same labs, founded by the CNRS institute, focusing on the study of copolymer self-assembly kinetics combining light scattering stopped flow investigations with TEM and small angle neutron scattering characterizations. In July 2018, she joined the Smart Bio-Interfaces team at the Center for Materials Interfaces @SSSA in Pontedera (Pisa, Italy).
