About

  • Waseem Raja completed MSc in Photonic Communication at University of Nottingham, United Kingdom- December 2009, which was funded by “Developing Solution Scholarship”. His MSc project “Numerical Modelling of Photorefractive Crystal Grating Mirror” was an integrated part of a European project BIGHTER which aims to pushing the limits of the current laser diode technology towards higher brightness, and at demonstrating applications such as: Laser sources for medical imagery for cancer diagnosis and intelligent therapy.

 

  • In February 2013, he joined ISTITUTO ITALIANO DI TECNOLOGIA, Department of nanostructures as a PhD student and he is working on theoretical/numerical investigation and design of plasmonic nanostructures for photovoltaics application .

 

  • During his PhD studies, he was a principal investigator of research project " Photon enhanced thermionic emission solar cells: Space charge effects" , a project funded by European Space Agengy (ESA, The Netherlands) for near Sun Mission. Futhermore he is also involved in finding various light trapping techniques through plasmonic nanostctures (Nanoshells) for photovoltics application. http://www.esa.int/gsp/ACT/nrg/projects/pete.html 

 

  • Currently, he is working on opto-electrical modelling of Perovskite Nanowire based Multijunction Solar Cells.
