About

I obtained my first level degree in Biology specializing in Biotechnology in 2013 at the University of Barcelona. I also obtained a Master in Neuroscience defending my thesis “Neuropsiquiatric synthoms on dementias” at the European University Miguel de Cervantes, in Madrid. On 2015 I obtained a Master in Genetics and Genomics at the University of Barcelona, defending the thesis “Identification of lncRNAs acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) in breast cancer cells”. In 2015 I joined the research group coordinated by Prof. Michele De Bortoli at the University of Torino, Dept. of Clinical and Biological Sciences, at San Luigi’s Hospital, Orbassano, where I attended at the PhD School in Life and Health Sciences. I obtained my PhD on 2019 defending the experimental thesis “Luminal breast cancer circRNAs uncovered by a novel tool for data analysis”.

I’m interested in cancer research and molecular biology. The multidisciplinary background obtained from the PhD program in Complex Systems for life Sciences gave me the opportunity to address biological problems by using combined computational and experimental approaches. This is one of the reasons why I joined Mattia Pelizzola’s lab for my first Postdoc.

I recently obtained a 3 year AIRC fellowship for the project “N6-Methyladenosine mediates drug resistance of human Hepatocellular Carcinoma” that I’m currently studying in the lab. Indeed, drug resistance is nowadays responsible for most relapses of cancer. The epitranscriptome is emerging as a novel possible druggable target in cancer. However, we still have a limited knowledge on the functional role of this layer of regulation. The results of this project are expected to reveal previously unanticipated functional consequences of epitranscriptional alterations, which could disclose novel therapeutic targets and mechanisms for HCC diagnosis and treatment
