I earned my Ph.D. in Physics in 2024 at the University of Parma and the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, within the Nanoscopy group supervised by Prof. Alberto Diaspro and Prof. Paolo Bianchini. Before that, I obtained my Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Pisa under the supervision of Prof. Ranieri Bizzarri.
During my Ph.D., my main focus was on developing fluorescence microscopy techniques to address challenging biological questions. In particular, I worked on the development of a method I termed local-FCS, which, within the framework of Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy, allows the separation of diffusional regions to improve the precision and accuracy of diffusion studies in living samples.
Beyond this, I have experience in single-molecule localization microscopy (SMLM) -specifically dSTORM and PALM- for which we developed a background subtraction method, as well as with STED microscopy, Image Scanning Microscopy (ISM), and FLIM.
