My research interests lie at the intersection of computational biophysics, molecular simulations, and machine learning, with a particular focus on nucleic acid–protein complexes and metalloenzymes. During my PhD in Data Science and Computation at the University of Bologna, in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), I have been investigating the translocation mechanism of DNA polymerase η, a metalloenzyme involved in DNA replication and repair. My work combines molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and data-driven approaches. Under the supervision of Dr. Marco De Vivo and in collaboration with Prof. Michele Parrinello, I integrate enhanced sampling techniques and machine learning methods to characterize rare events and transient intermediates along the enzymatic translocation pathway.
