Francesca received her M.Sc. cum laude in Telecommunication Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2018 with the thesis "A Computational Approach for Estimating the Information Capacity of an Engineered Cell-To-Cell Molecular Communication Channel". She developed her thesis during a 6 months visiting period at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (USA), in the laboratory of Professor Massimiliano Pierobon. She is currently a Ph.D. student in Information Technology under the supervision of Professor Maurizio Magarini at Politecnico di Milano.
Between 2019 and 2020, she spent one year as a visiting student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), in the laboratory of Professor Domitilla Del Vecchio. She collaborates with the Genomic Science Group of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia and Istituto Europeo Oncologico in Milan. Her research interests include the study of molecular communications by applying and adapting concepts of digital communication and information theory to biological circuits.
