PHD STUDENTS

Through our doctoral programs, IIT aims to nurture the future leaders of scientific research who will tackle global challenges tomorrow!
The IIT-funded doctoral courses are structured in collaboration with Italian and international universities. Additionally, IIT hosts some doctoral programs designed in collaboration with prestigious institutions such as Open University and the University of Manchester, as well as those funded through internationally relevant projects such as the Marie Skłodowska-Curie program.
Students awarded scholarships by partner universities will have the opportunity to conduct their research projects in our state-of-the-art laboratories, contributing to a dynamic environment for revolutionary discoveries.

If, upon publication of the rankings, you are awarded a doctoral scholarship, you'll be ready to embark on your exciting journey at IIT!
During the period preceding the start of the doctoral program, you will be guided first by the university and then by IIT research unit assistants to finalize all necessary procedures to access our laboratories.
Moreover, if you are a non-European national pursuing a PhD, the university will provide support for obtaining the necessary documents to come to Italy and those mandatory for studying activities within the national territory.

GUEST STUDENTS
This path is designed for students already enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program or those pursuing a doctoral program who choose to conduct an experimental thesis project or undergo a training period at IIT to obtain their degree. After reaching an agreement with the project's supervising professor and their home university, the student will have the opportunity to undergo a formative and experimental period within one of IIT's research units. The Principal Investigator and the research group will provide support in both project development and career orientation in the world of scientific research.
To start your experience at IIT as a guest student, you need to: (1) Identify the research unit that conducts scientific activities aligned with your course of study or interests. (2) Contact the PI of the research unit, expressing your interest in being hosted as a guest student. When contacting the PI, attach your CV and explain the project you would like to work on, detailing how it aligns with the research unit's activities. (3) Upon receiving positive feedback, with authorization from your university advisor, initiate the administrative procedure to formalize your stay at IIT. Contact your university's administrative office, which, in collaboration with IIT's administrative offices, will assist you in completing the access formalities. -
CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS
This path is dedicated to students enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program who want to invest part of their time in acquiring professional skills through a concrete, scientific or administrative experience.
To propose yourself for a curricular internship, you need to: (1) Check if there is an existing internship agreement between IIT and your university. IIT partners with many major universities in Italy; check your university's portal for an active agreement. (2) Identify the research unit or administrative function of your interest. (3) Contact the research unit or Administrative Directorate, expressing your interest as an intern. When contacting them, do not forget to attach your CV and a motivational letter. Once you receive positive feedback, initiate the administrative procedure to formalize the internship. Contact your university's internship office, which, in collaboration with IIT's administrative offices, will provide the necessary support.
