Michele Tamagnone holds M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Politecnico di Milano and University of Illinois at Chicago and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).
From 2016 to 2020 he was a postdoctoral researcher and a research associate at Harvard University in the group led by Prof. Federico Capasso, where he studied polaritons in van der Waals materials and metasurfaces for optoelectronics applications.
From 2021 Michele is PI of the research line Nanophotonic Devices (https://www.iit.it/web/nanophotonic-devices) at the Center for Convergent Technologies of IIT, located in Morego (GE), dedicated to the development of new miniaturized photonic and optoelectronic components based on nanostructured oxides and 2D materials.
