Federica Grilli is a PhD student in “Bioengineering and Robotics” at the University of Genoa. She is carrying out her doctoral activity in the laboratory of Nanotechnology for Precision Medicine directed by Professor Paolo Decuzzi at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia. The aim of her Ph.D. research program is to study the effect of a novel engineered polymeric micro scaffold, the micromesh, with a peculiar geometry that is finely tuned, on the biological activity of a mesenchymal stem cells line, namely the human Adipose-Derived Stem cells. She is currently characterizing different geometries of micromesh in order to design a useful scaffold for cell transplantation for therapeutic applications in myocardial infarction.
