About

Tonia Tommasi, M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering and PhD in Chemical Engineering both obtained at the Politecnico di Torino. Actually she is a senior Post Doc at the Center for Space Human Robotics of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, located in Torino (Italy), working on electricity generation by microbial fuel cells. She has a great passion about the fascinating world of microorganisms, and in particular their strategies to naturally solve environmental and today energy problems. Her research interests focus on energy production from bio-waste, sustainability analysis of bioprocesses, biological hydrogen production and waste-water treatments. Moreover, she pays specific attention to the spread of the scientific knowledge proposing research-communication activities, both through divulgation laboratories and interviews on national mass media scientific programs (e.g. Geo Scienza: http://www.rai.tv/dl/RaiTV/programmi/media/ContentItem-cfc8e0f6-763f-4f76-9dd4-46832498a460.html)
