Nicholas Anthony studied his PhD in physics within the Australian Research Council, Centre of Excellence for Advanced Molecular Imaging, based at the La Trobe Institute of Molecular Science, Melbourne Australia. His doctoral research utilised the quantitative phase information, obtained using the diffraction imaging method of ptychography, to image anisotropic samples with applications to biological samples. Prior to his PhD he completed a Master degree researching electrical modes of Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) to characterise minerals, and a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Nanotechnology with majors in Physics and Chemistry.

His current research interests involve the design and implementation of ptychographic imaging within super-resolution systems. His particular research project is in exploring improvements to the current ptychographic technique to advance its spatial and temporal resolution.
