About

Massimo Totaro received his Master Degree in Electronic Engineering and Ph.D in Information Engineering from the University of Pisa in 2006 and 2010, respectively.

In 2012 he joined the Center for Micro-Biorobotics IIT@SSSA, working in the Lucia Beccai’s group. He focuses on bioinspired tactile sensing for soft robotics and wearable application. His main research interests include modeling, fabrication and characterization of micro and nanoelectronic devices, bioinspired tactile systems, wearable systems, and soft robots.

Previously, from 2010 to 2012, he was post-doc research fellow at the Information Engineering Department at University of Pisa, working on novel nanostructures for electronic, sensing, and thermoelectric applications. He focused his activity on novel fabrication techniques and on the modeling of micro and nanoelectronic devices, based on silicon and on GaAs/AlGaAs heterostructures.

He authored or co-authored several articles in very high impact factor peer-reviewed journals (i.e. Science, Advanced Materials, Nano Letters, ACS Nano) and he participated to more than 15 international conferences. He is member of the IEEE-RAS (Robotics and Automation Society), and IEEE-EDS (Electronic Devices Society). IEEE Nanotechnology Council, and IEEE Sensors Council.
