About

Lucia Schiatti (M.Sc. 2013, Ph.D. 2018) graduated in Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Trento in 2013. She continued working as a research fellow in the group of Dr. Giandomenico Nollo and Dr. Luca Faes, within the Biotech Research Center (Trento), until October 2014. During this period she gained experience on time series analysis of physiological data, including brain (EEG) signals. In 2014 she completed a period of traineeship in Belgium, under the supervision of Prof. Daniele Marinazzo at the Department of Data Analysis of the University of Ghent, where she worked on the implementation of techniques for measuring connectivity between brain areas. She joined IIT starting from November 2014, working at the Biomedical Robotics Lab under the supervision of Dr. Leonardo De Mattos, within the Department of Advanced Robotics (ADVR). During this period she collaborated at the TEEP-SLA project to develop Brain-Computer interface (BCI) systems for motor impaired people, focusing on the topics of biosignal processing, adaptive algorithms development, design of an EEG low-cost acquisition system, and implementation of assistive multimodal interfaces. In particuar she worked on integrating the gaze signal with non-invasive measures of brain activity related to motor imagery/intent and error awareness. She received her Ph.D. degree in Bioengineering and Robotics from the University of Genova and the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in February 2018. In December 2018 she joined the Unit for Visually Impaired People (U-VIP), led by Dr. Monica Gori. She is currently working as a postdoc researcher on the topic of multisensory development and visual rehabilitation of visually impaired children, within the framework of the joint-lab IIT-Mondino.

Joint Lab IIT-Mondino (May 2018 - May 2023) - Collaboration with Istituto Neurologico Nazionale Casimiro Mondino for the development of tests and rehabilitation technologies for young  patients with visual impairments.

TEEP-SLA (December 2015 - November 2018) - Empathic and Expressive Technologies for People with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
