Salvatore Bianchi

As a Laboratory Manager for the CGS@SEMM of IIT, I am responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the laboratory. 

My daily tasks involve a mix of technical, administrative, and supervisory responsibilities, all aimed at maintaining a productive and safe environment for research and experimentation.

I oversee the scheduling and use of laboratory equipment, making sure everything is functioning properly and that all projects run on schedule. Regular maintenance, calibration, and repair of instruments are part of my duties to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Managing the lab team is another key aspect of my role. I train and mentor technicians and assistants, delegate tasks, and make sure everyone is working cohesively toward common goals.

Budgeting and procurement are also part of my responsibilities. I handle the lab’s finances, order necessary supplies, and manage inventory to prevent shortages or inefficiencies.

Safety is a top priority in my work. I enforce health and safety protocols, provide regular training, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, from chemical handling to waste disposal.

I also maintain detailed records of experiments, results, and equipment, and I prepare reports to communicate progress to management or collaborators. When needed, I collaborate directly on research projects, lending my technical expertise and organizational skills to support successful outcomes.
