Daniel has a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering (2010) with a minor in education, and a BSc. in Physics (2011) from the University of Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia. He then moved to Pamplona, Spain, and did an MSc. in Neuroscience and Cognition, under the scholarship Banco Santander, and working on machine learning approaches to study resting state networks in multimodal BOLD-ASL fMRI data. He then went to Rovereto to the University of Trento and did a PhD (Cum Laudeì) in Cognitive Science at the Center for Mind/Brain Sciences, at IIT-CNCS Neural Computation Lab of Stefano Panzeri, and under the co-supervision of Alessandro Gozzi. This project entailed the dynamic characterization of fMRI brain states in the mouse brain. He then continued this research line both computationally, and experimentally at A. Gozzi's Functional Neuroimaging Lab, and is currently investigating the neural correlates of intrisic brain dynamics, and the role of neuromodulatory systems in shaping these states.
