Lorenzo Cristiani is a researcher specializing in microbial bioelectrochemical systems and biohybrid device development. His work focuses on interactions among microorganisms, electrodes, redox mediators, and functional materials, with particular attention to extracellular electron transfer and bioelectronic interfaces. By combining microbiology, electrochemistry, materials science, and reactor engineering, he develops and characterizes platforms in which microbial metabolism is coupled to electronically active components. His research aims to improve control over charge transfer at microbe–material interfaces and translate these interactions into functional bioelectrochemical devices.
