On June 27th, we participated in the Living Planet Symposium in Wien, Austria, delivering a presentation about the results of the ALCEO project and including preliminary results from the second stage of the project. The symposium’s inspiring location and dynamic sessions provided a perfect platform to explore the intersection of AI, Remote Sensing and Cultural heritage preservation

The ALCEO project has successfully entered its second stage, following an extension of the initial phase. This renewal secures another year of funding and development.

In this second stage, ALCEO will focus on building an Active Learning platform aimed at streamlining the annotation of looting pits. The platform will help enhance model performance while significantly reducing the need for large volumes of manually labelled images.

This development represents an important step forward in applying machine learning to cultural heritage protection.
