Pietro Cataldi

Pietro Cataldi obtained his master in Solid State Physics in 2013 at the Università di Genova, performing a thesis in the Electron dynamiX group at the Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft in Berlin. Afterward, he performed an internship at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in the Smart Materials group supervised by Dr. Ilker S. Bayer and started to work on the design and characterization of multifunctional coatings produced with industrially compatible techniques. In November 2014, Pietro started his Ph.D. in the same group. He became an expert on developing conductive inks for flexible electronics and the preparation of nanocomposites with multifunctional applications. He successfully defended his thesis in February 2018.  In March 2018, he was sponsored by Ghelfi Ondulati S.P.A. to develop coatings to improve the mechanical properties of cardboards in contact with water. From September 2018, the researcher worked at the University of Manchester National Graphene Institute with Prof. Ian Kinloch and Dr. Mark Bissett within the EU Graphene Flagship. Since November 2020, he is a postdoctoral researcher at the Printed and Molecular Electronics group at the IIT, working with Dr. Mario Caironi on the ELFO ERC cosolidator project (https://elfoproject.eu/). From April 2022, Pietro will work with Dr. Athanassia Athanassiou in the Smart Materials group of IIT on his Marie Curie IF on developing Controllably Biodegradable Conductors for Robotic Tactile Skins (project name BioConTact, more details here: https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101022279).
