Dario Pasquali is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the CONTACT (COgNiTive Architecture for Collaborative Technologies) Unit of the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT). He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Engineering from the University of Bologna, and his Ph.D. in Bioengineering and Robotics from the University of Genova in 2022. His research bridges fundamental and applied science. On the fundamental side, he develops the AlwaysOn Architecture, a novel cognitive architecture for the humanoid robot iCub that enables autonomous collection, modeling, and learning from first-hand daily experiences, allowing the robot to adapt to real-world scenarios. On the applied side, he leads the ERC Proof of Concept project ARIEL (Assessing Children Manipulation and Exploration Skills), where he designs and develops MyCube, a sensorized device for assessing manipulation and exploration skills in both adults and children. In addition to his research activities, he actively contributes to educational initiatives in primary and secondary schools, promoting engagement with robotics and artificial intelligence among younger students.
