Since 2016, in the framework of the Marie-Skłodowska Curie Actions Individual Fellowships (MSCA IF), the European Commission has been awarding the Seal of Excellence certificate to reward researchers for their high-quality proposals. The Seal of Excellence is awarded to all MSCA IF proposals scoring 85% or more and not funded due to lack of budget.
Since H2020-MSCA-IF-2016 call for proposals, to attract the most talented and promising researchers, IIT has promoted an internal funding scheme to support recipients of the MSCA Seal of Excellence who applied to be hosted at IIT.
IIT MSCA Seal of Excellence funding scheme offers to the MSCA Seal of Excellence recipients a contract covering the length of the MSCA proposal with a salary equal to the amount present in the MSCA proposal.
Every year IIT estimates the minimum threshold to activate the internal funding scheme.
