The main goal of this program is to develop a new generation of therapeutic approaches and tools (such as nanotechnology) that will improve the treatment of a disease, address the underlying causes and biological mechanisms, and modulate its progression. The main focus of the activities will be on cancer, but the flexibility of the modular strategy allows straightforward extensions to other pathologies by simply selecting the right module combination. Moreover, since nowadays nanotechnologies have applications in several fields (from Chemical industry to Semiconductors, from Drug Discovery and Delivery to Automotive) IIT research will focus on the interaction of nanosystems with biological entities assessing new security standards for living beings and human environments (in pharmacology, therapies, food, agriculture etc)
