Dr. Haleem received his PhD from the Institute for Frontier Materials at Deakin University (Australia) under supervision of Prof. Xungai Wang. He studied textile yarn structure and yarn production process with an aim to improve understanding around yarn process-structure-property relationship and paving way to spin superior quality yarns leading to production of high quality clothes. He developed image-processing based methods combined with suitable imaging modalities to study complex fibre arrangement within a yarn and to quantify the dynamic geometry of yarn spinning triangle, both of which directly affect yarn quality . 

During his PhD, he had setup collaborations with researchers at other Australian universities (ANU, Monash, UTS etc.) and CSIRO (Common Wealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization) manufacturing division to access state of the art scientific resources and mentorship from key experts in his area of research. He had also participated in several scientific events and communicated his research to audiences ranging from specialists to general public. He received competitive Deakin University Post Graduate Research Scholarship and two visiting fellowships from Deakin University (Australia) and National Institute for Materials Science (Japan). Dr. Haleem authored a total of 15 research publications including both conference and journal papers.

At PAVIS, he is working as a postdoctoral Research Fellow and involved with an industrial research project to develop automated detection / inspection systems for textile industry.
