Katarzyna Bejtka received her MSc in Materials Science and Nanotechnology in 2004 from the University of Linköping (Sweden) and her PhD in Physics in 2008 from Strathclyde University of Glasgow (UK), in a joint project with CRHEA research centre (Nice, France), funded by the European Union Research Training Network CLERMONT2. During her PhD she worked on design, fabrication and characterisation of planar microcavities.

Since 2008 until 2010 she was an Assistant Statistician at Scottish Government in Education Analytical Services Division (Edinburgh, UK), with the following responsibilities:

  • Analysis, report writing and advice to policy on Scottish results in the International student assessments carried out by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) including Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), and Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS)
  • Preparing of several annual publications for Directorate of Education and writing the submissions/advice to the Ministers

Since 2011 she is a Post-Doc at IIT, Center for Sustainable Future Technologies, with the following research interests: 

  • Structural and morphological characterization of micro and nanostructured materials and devices by means of Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM).
  • Device fabrication by means of Focused Ion Beam (FIB) micromachining, materials deposition and Electron Beam Lithography.
  • Electrical characterization of micro and nanostructured materials with use of micromanipulators in FESEM chamber.
  • TEM sample preparation.
  • CO2 reduction into valuable fuels and chemicals, in the framework of Advanced Materials research line.
