Pierluigi Mondelli is a postdoctoral scientist within the Printed Molecular Electronics group at the Italian Institute of Technology in Milan (IT). His current research focusses on the development of green applications, such as gas sensors to prevent food spoilage. His doctoral studies, supported and co-funded by the European Commission through the Horizon2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie ITN Programme, was focusing on the key factors that limit the commercialisation of solution-processed Organic Photovoltaics (OPV). With this purpose, he spent a significant part of his research at the Merck Chemicals Ltd. laboratories of the Chilworth Technical Centre (United Kingdom), working on the design and characterisation of a new generation of Non-Fullerene Acceptors (NFAs) for the OPV roll-to-roll printing industry. Pierluigi received his M.Sc. (magna cum laude) in Nanotechnology Engineering at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in 2016 and his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 2012 at the same university.
