Valentina graduated in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Torino in 2003. She has worked as a research fellow at the Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment until 2007, when she earned a Ph.D. in Complex system applied to post genomic biology.
As the result of her multidisciplinary training, she worked on convergence between biotechnology and nanotechnology to design non-invasive diagnostic systems and powerful tools for drug discovery and testing and led the BioMEMS unit at Techfab Srl.
In 2010, she graduated from the Singularity University @NASA Ames Research Park in silicon valley whose mission is to deal with, and solve, humanity’s Grand Challenges applying new developing technologies.Currently, she is working at IIT -Center for Sustainable Futures on Microbial fuel cells improvement through the integration of biology, new materials, different architectures and fluidics.
She is one of the founder of BE.in.TO (BioHacking Experience in Torino) whose goal is to communicate the role of biotechnology bringing it to the common experience through experiments carried out with material of daily use.
