Gianmarco Montanari is IIT Director General since February, 2017.
Previously, he was City Manager (i.e. Managing Director) of the City of Turin where in 2013 he replaced the former Director, Eng. Cesare Vaciago.
He worked as CFO in a Swiss multinational company in the automotive field, partner in Management Consulting, General Manager in Unicredit Bank and Managing Director of Equitalia.
He graduated in Industrial Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. After that, he graduated also in Management, Economy, Political Science and Law. Also, he obtained several specializations in Business Management attending prestigious business schools (Columbia, Insead, IMD and Bocconi).
He is author of the book “The Samsung Way” about the success of Samsung Corporation and a growing country like South Korea explaining a comparison with the Italian industrial history from reconstruction period to the present day.
In March 2019 was released his second book "Tech Impact – Luci e ombre dello sviluppo tecnologico" which deals with advantages and disadvantages of technology: it retraces case histories and macro-trends to find potential solutions in response to outstanding problems of our future.
He is also Board Member of Univeristy of Turin, Agenzia delle Entrate (Italian Revenue Agency) and Chairman of the Remuneration Committee of Fineco Bank.
