Elisa Paola Ambrosio (MSc 2000 in Industrial Chemistry at Università degli Studi di Torino, PhD 2008 in Materials Science and Technology, at Politecnico di Torino) is a researcher technologist in the Additive Manufacturing Lab of the Italian Institute of Technology IIT@POLITO.
After the degree she worked as Failure Analysis Engineer at International Rectifier in activities focused on the electrical and structural characterization of semiconductor.
In January 2005, she joined the Material Science and Chemical Engineer Department at Politecnico di Torino. The research activities were focused on the synthesis and characterization (structural and electrochemical) of catalyst supports for PEMFC (Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell), on the preparation and characterization of MMC (Metal Matrix Composites) for aerospace application and on the characterization of SiC foams and carbon derived polymeric resins.
Since January 2010 she joined IIT as Researcher in the Center for Space Human Robotics. The research activity now focuses on the development and characterization of new lightweight structural components to be realized by means of DMLS (Direct Metal Laser Sintering) technique. In particular the activity focuses on the materials optimization and development for this particular technology, from powders to the final sintered components.
She is author and/or co-author of 2 book chapters, 1 patent, ~20 papers in international journals and ~40 communications to national and international scientific conferences.
