DG Caldwell is author or co-author of over 450 papers in international journals and conferences and 18 patents. His research interests include innovative actuators and sensors, haptic feedback, force augmentation exoskeletons, dexterous manipulators, humanoid robotics, bipedal and quadrapedal robots, biomimetic systems, rehabilitation robotics, telepresence and teleoperation procedures, and robotics and automation systems for the food industry. Robots developed within the Dept. of Advanced Robotics include: COMAN, WalkMan, HalfMan, HyQ and HyQ2. He has presented Keynote/Plenary Lectures at over 40 international events since 2005. Caldwell is a past chair of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Chapter (UKRI), a past co-chair of the IEE (IET) Robotics and Mechatronics PN, and past secretary of the ASME/IEEE Trans. on Mechatronics.
