Post-doctoral position in Sensorimotor Neuroscience of Joint Action - [ Postdoc ]

Workplace: Roma, IIT@SAPIENZA
Added on: 29/04/2019 - Expires on: 24/05/2019

The Neuroscience and Behaviour Research Line led by Prof. Giandomenico Iannetti is opening a Post-doctoral position for studying (1) sensorimotor integration in the context of collaborative motor tasks such as joint action, interpersonal coordination and cooperation, as well as (2) the interfering effect of suprising environmental events on such tasks.

The laboratory uses psychophysical and neurophysiological approaches to conduct experiments that investigate fundamental questions about human perception and behaviour. For a full publication list see: https://www.iit.it/people/giandomenico-iannetti, www.iannettilab.net and https://goo.gl/RcY1ER. The laboratory, based at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT, in Rome) as well as at University College London (UCL), is composed by an international team of researchers with complementary expertise in this field. This will provide an exciting cultural environment to conduct experiments. In particular, Dr Giacomo Novembre, who will contribute in the supervision of the successful candidate, has a track-record in joint action research, and Prof Roberto Caminiti has a long-standing experience in primate motor neurophysiology. The laboratory is fully equipped with state-of-the-art technology to combine behavioural, physiological recordings and brain stimulation, in both controlled and ecological environments. The laboratory also offers the possibility of interacting with research groups working on motor systems in in-vivo models.

The candidate should have a strong publication record in the field of sensorimotor neurophysiology, in either humans or animals. Strong analytical skills, coding abilities, and experience in time-series analysis of neuroimaging data are not mandatory, but highly desirable. The ideal candidate should be independent, proactive, suited for collaborative work in a team with senior and junior collaborators, as well as interact with other groups in international networks.

Salary will be commensurate to qualifications and experience and in line with international standards.
