Post-Doc Opening in Social Cognition in Human-Robot Interaction - [ Postdoc ]

Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work in the “Social cognition in human-robot interaction” Research Line.

We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled and experienced researcher with the focus on computational modelling of cognitive processes involved in perception, action, and decision making in the context of social interactions with natural and artificial agents.

The successful candidate will work on applying computational methods to behavioural and EEG data and on conducting empirical studies in the domain of social cognition in human-robot interaction in the framework of Project InStance funded from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme - Grant Agreement No 715058.

The candidates are required to have:

  • PhD degree either in Computational Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Cognitive/Social Neuroscience, Experimental Psychology or other related fields.
  • Extensive experience with applying computational methods to study behavioural and neural bases of cognition
  • Proficiency in statistics and statistical analysis tools (such as R, MATLAB, Python, SPSS)
  • High interest in social cognition
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Interest in human-robot interaction and humanoid robotics
  • Ability to conduct research independently

Experience with the following would be an asset:

  • Modelling decision making processes
  • Experience with Bayesian models
  • Experience with modelling not only behavioural but also EEG data
  • Studies in human-robot interaction
  • Working in interdisciplinary and international teams
