The iCub team (https://www.iit.it/research/lines/icub) at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) is seeking to appoint a full-time Research Software Engineer on the topic of robot control, perception and planning.

The selected candidate will join the interdisciplinary team of the iCub project. She/he will contribute to the laboratory between IIT and Danieli Automation. Danieli Automation is a large international company active in the industry automation field.

The IIT-Danieli joint laboratory carries out research and development in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence applied to industrial automation in hazardous environments. The goal of the joint laboratory is to reduce risks related to occupational health hazards and thereby increase safety for workers in the steel industry.

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic robotics engineer who will join our team to bring modern robotics control, perception planning techniques to the factory floor.

Required qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in robotics engineering, computer science, control engineering, computer engineering or related fields;
  • Good communication skills and ability to cooperate;
  • Creative, proactive and collaborative attitude;
  • Proficient in English language (written and oral).

Desirable skills:

  • Experience with programming languages such as C/C++, Python or Matlab;
  • Experience in control or motion planning of robots;
  • Experience with computer vision and depth sensors;
  • Experience in working with industrial robots or PLC systems;
  • Experience in industrial automation software.

The successful candidate will be offered a salary commensurate to experience and skills.
