The Smart Bio-Interfaces Research Line (https://www.iit.it/research/lines/smart-bio-interfaces) is opening one Fellow position on Development and Characterization of Lipid Nanoparticles for Antioxidants Delivery in the framework of the project “Insight into New Therapeutic Preclinical Strategies in Autosomal Recessive Spastic Ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay Type”.

The Line, led by Prof. Gianni Ciofani, is active in the field of smart nanomaterials for nanomedicine, bio/non-bio interactions, and biology in altered gravity conditions, and it is located at the Center for Micro-BioRobotics (CMBR, Pontedera, Pisa). CMBR has fully equipped chemical, biological and microfabrication facilities, including clean rooms (class 1000 and class 10000), chemical laboratories, BSL2 biological laboratories, and equipment for molecular biology.

The candidate will work in the framework of the “Ministero della Salute” project “Insight into New Therapeutic Preclinical Strategies in Autosomal Recessive Spastic Ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay Type”, funded by the Italian Ministry of Health with Grant Agreement RF-2016-02361610.

The selected candidate will be expected to design, develop, and characterize lipid nanoparticles loaded with antioxidant agents for the delivery at level of the central nervous system.

Applicants must have obtained a PhD degree in one of the following areas: Biotechnology, Materials Science, Pharmaceutics, or related fields.

Experience with nanomaterials synthesis and characterization, functionalization of nanoparticles with biological ligands, drug delivery are mandatory. Experience with HPLC, NMR, and biological testing are highly desirable as well. Experience in inorganic nanoparticle synthesis and characterization will be favourably evaluated. Junior (maximum 1 year of post-doctoral experience) candidates will be considered for the position. High level of English, both spoken and written, is an essential requirement.
