The Advanced Robotics Research Line of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia is seeking a highly motivated Fellow in the area of robotic laser microsurgery and medical robotics.
We are looking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic engineer to work on the design, development and automation systems for laser microsurgery. The candidate should possess an MSc degree in mechanical/mechatronics engineering, or related field.
The selected candidate will join an interdisciplinary team and contribute to the development of novel endoscopic & robotic systems and autonomous behaviors in the area of robotic laser surgery.
This is a major area of research at Biomedical Robotics Laboratory (BRL), one which includes close collaboration with top surgeons and surgical device companies. Currently the group is developing robotic technologies for free-beam and for endoscopic laser surgery. Both applications offer a vast number of research topics that can be explored, including in real-time tumor detection, surgical planning, surgical automation, micro-robotics and laser-tissue interaction.
Experience in one or more of the following areas will be considered a plus: mechanical design of robotic systems, hands on experience on assembly and control of the mechatronic systems, development of new magnetic actuators, laser systems, laser surgery, medical devices.
To apply, please send a detailed CV and name and contact of 2 referees to firstname.lastname@example.org by May 28, 2019 stating the position “Fellow in Surgical Robotics - CB 76362” in the subject of the e-mail.
