Applications are invited for one Post-Doctoral position on fabrication and characterization of microfluidic scaffolds prepared through two-photon lithography.
The Smart Bio-Interfaces Research Line (https://www.iit.it/research/lines/smart-bio-interfaces) is opening one Post Doc position in the framework of the ERC Proof of Concept grant BBBhybrid.
The Smart Bio-Interfaces Research Line, led by Prof. Gianni Ciofani, is active in the field of smart nanomaterials for nanomedicine, bio/non-bio interactions, and biology in altered gravity conditions, and it is located at the Center for Micro-BioRobotics (CMBR, Pontedera, Pisa). CMBR has fully equipped chemical, biological and microfabrication facilities, including clean rooms (class 1000 and class 10000), chemical laboratories, BSL2 biological laboratories, and equipment for molecular biology.
The candidate will work on the ERC granted project BBBhybrid (Advanced in vitro physiological models: Towards real-scale, biomimetic and biohybrid barriers-on-a-chip, EU contract number 832045), aiming at the design, the production, the characterization, and the proposal for future commercialization of the first 1:1 scale 3D-printed realistic model of the brain tumor microenvironent with its associated blood neurovasculature.
The selected candidate will be expected to design, fabricate, and characterize microfluidic devices acting as scaffolds for cell culturing and as platforms for the testing of drug delivery systems. The platform will be fabricated through two-photon lithography.
Applicants must have a PhD degree in one of the following area: Bioengineering, Nanotechnology, Biorobotics, or related fields.
Experiences with micro/nanofabrication techniques are mandatory. Experience with two-photon polymerization / direct laser writing approaches are strongly recommended. Both junior and experienced (maximum 5 years of post-doctoral experience) candidates will be considered for the position. High level of English, both spoken and written, is an essential requirement.
Interested candidates should send their application (CV, list of publications and contacts of 2 referees) to firstname.lastname@example.org and to email@example.com by 12/02/2019 quoting “1 Post Doc Smart Bio-Interfaces - CB 76361”.
