Two post-doctoral positions focusing on the application of causal optogenetic approaches to dissect the neural circuits underlying sensory perception are available within the Optical Approaches to Brain Function Research Line at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Genoa (one post-doctoral position is funded by EU Commission within the ERC project NEUROPATTERNS - Grant Agreement n° 647725).
The applicants should have a strong background in neurophysiology, circuit neuroscience, or behavioral neuroscience and be highly independent with a strong propensity for interdisciplinary research. Previous experience with electrophysiological recordings, two-photon GCaMP imaging, optogenetics or behavioral analysis is desirable. Candidates must hold a PhD in neuroscience, physics, bio-engineering or a related discipline and be highly motivated and creative individuals who want to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary research environment and who are willing to interact with both experimental and theoretical neuroscientists. Research activities will be carried out in the Optical Approaches to Brain Function Laboratory, supervised by Dr. Fellin. For reference to recent work please see Forli et al. Cell Reports 2018, Zucca et al. eLife 2017; Bovetti and Fellin, J. Neurosci. Methods 2015; Beltramo et al., Nat. Neurosci. 2013.
Applications (full CV, statement of research interest and contact information of two referees) should be sent by email to Dr. Tommaso Fellin (firstname.lastname@example.org) quoting “Post-doctoral position in Advanced optical approaches for the investigation of brain circuit function CB 75197 – 76285 – 75743” in the subject line.
