Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT (www.iit.it) is opening a post-doctoral position on Organic BioElectronics in the framework of the European Project H2020 “SiMBiT” GA 824946, dedicated to the development of Single molecule bio-electronic smart system arrays for clinical testing. Within such multidisciplinary and intersectoral project, IIT will develop an array of sensors based on water gated organic transistors compatibly with large area manufacturing processes, a key enabling aspect for future commercialization. 

The candidate will fabricate polymer and hybrid devices by means of a combination of large-area compatible printing and direct-writing techniques. He will interact with partners that are active on the single sensor development and optimization, will transpose the discrete device properties in an architecture compatible with replication in an array and will actively interact with companies to ensure scalability and to integrate the array in a full electronic system.

This research activity will be carried out in collaboration with the Printed and Molecular Electronics Research Line (https://www.iit.it/lines/printed-and-molecular-electronics), under the supervision of Dr. Mario Caironi, at the “Center for Nano Science and Technology” of Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in Milan (Italy).

Eligible applicants are required to have a PhD in either Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering (Energy, Physics, Chemistry, Materials, Electronics).

Proven experimental expertise in the development of bioelectronics devices, especially based on organic semiconductors will be considered an asset, as well as laboratory skills in solution processing/printing of semiconductors and devices fabrication and characterization. The successful candidate will be fluent in English.
