A postdoctoral position in “Optical Super-Resolution imaging by Wavefront Shaping in tissue” will be available in the Center for Life Nanoscience at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (CLNS@SAPIENZA, Rome, Italy) within the Nanotechnologies for Neurosciences Research Line, specifically in the “IIT- CrestOptics” JointLab.
In order to merge scientific expertise with industrial development and prototyping know-how Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia and CrestOptics Spa (a leading Italian company manufacturing advanced optical and electro-optical instruments for scientific and industrial applications) have started a facility in Roma called “JointLab” dedicated to exploring state of the art technology in microscopy and Life Science applications of optics and electro-optics.
The JointLab scientific program sees, as a major inspirational principle, the integration between basic scientific research and the development of technical applications. The research activities cover areas of science of high innovative content, representing the most advanced frontiers of modern technology, with wide application possibilities in various fields from medicine to industry, from computer science to robotics, life sciences, and nanobiotechnology.
The Candidate will work in the Fluorescence Microscopy Super-resolution team as part of the JointLab development facility. The project will focus on the design and realization of a super-resolution microscope for imaging in fluorescent biological samples (cell cultures, ex-vivo tissue slices, organoids), exploiting wavefront shaping, tailored light beams, and custom deconvolution techniques. The system to be developed, will resort on a novel imaging strategy based on the properties of light diffusion in turbid multiple-scattering biological media.
The ideal candidate for this position should:
We value candidates with a proactive attitude and results-oriented mind set, good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary research team. An internationally competitive salary, dependent on experience, will be offered.
Interested applicants should submit their CV, list of publications, a statement of research interests, and names of two referees to Prof. Giancarlo Ruocco email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org
