Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT (www.iit.it) is opening a postdoctoral position, in the framework of the Future & Emerging Technologies flagship project on graphene and other 2D crystals, Graphene Flagship (http://graphene-flagship.eu/), funded by the European Commission with Grant Agreement n. 785219 for the 2013-2023 period.
One theoretical post-doctoral position is currently available in the context of the WP8-Optoelectronics and Photonics, to work on theoretical formulation of i) the non-equilibrium dynamics of carriers in van der Waals heterostructures comprising graphene and related materials and ii) electrical plasmon injection in encapsulated graphene.
Preference will be given to candidates with proven expertise in quantum field theory, low-dimensional physics, and quantum physics of low-dimensional systems with long-range interactions. Candidates are required to have a PhD in Theoretical or Statistical Physics. Ideal candidates should have a strong background in analytical methods for the many-body problem.
The successful candidate will be offered an internationally competitive salary package commensurate to qualifications and experience.
This research activity will be carried out at the Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in Genoa (Italy), under the supervision of Dr. Marco Polini and in tight collaboration with partners of the EU Graphene Flagship project (http://graphene-flagship.eu/) and the IIT Graphene Labs Research Line (http://graphene.iit.it).
IIT was established in 2003 and successfully created the large-scale infrastructure in Genova, a network of 10 state of the art laboratories countrywide, recruited an international staff of about 1100 people from more than 50 countries. IIT's research endeavour focuses on high-tech and innovation, representing the forefront of technology with possible application from medicine to industry, computer science, robotics, life sciences and nanobiotechnologies.
Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia is an Equal Opportunity Employer that actively seeks diversity in the workforce.
