Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT is seeking one post-doctoral candidate focusing on the development of thermoplastic polymer composite materials loaded with graphene flakes and graphene nanoplatelets. The development will be based on the techniques of melt extrusion and injection molding and the obtained materials will target enhanced thermal conductivity and gas barrier properties
The successful candidate will join the Smart Materials and Graphene Labs at the headquarter of IIT in Genova, Italy, and work in the framework of the Future & Emerging Technologies flagship project on graphene and other 2D crystals, Graphene Flagship (http://graphene-flagship.eu/), funded by the European Commission with Grant Agreement n. 785219 for the 2013-2023 period. He/she will work in strict collaboration with European institutions and companies partners of the Graphene Flagship.
The Graphene Labs of IIT in Genova have state of the art lab facilities for the production of 2D-crystal-based inks by liquid-phase exfoliation, their optical/electrical and morphological characterization, production of composites combining 2d crystals with carbon-based nanostructures.
The Smart materials Group owns state of the art equipment for the development of new composite materials combining various synthetic or natural polymers and changing their properties by introducing nanofillers or organic molecules in the matrices.
Eligible applicants will have a PhD in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics. Preference will be given to candidates with proven expertise in polymeric composites preparation, knowledge of melt extrusion and injection molding, as well as thermomechanical and structural characterization of polymeric composite materials.
The closing date for applications is February 26, 2018. Please send your application, including a cover letter, your CV and names of two referees, via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org quoting “Post doc Graphene Flagship WP14 – CB 74993” in the subject line”.
Please note that this position is contingent on the signature of the relevant Grant Agreement
