Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT (www.iit.it) is opening a post-doctoral position on “Electromagnetic and Photo-Acoustic Properties of 3-Dimensional Graphene-based structures, in the framework of the Future & Emerging Technologies flagship project on graphene and other 2D crystals, Graphene Flagship (http://graphene-flagship.eu/), funded by the European Commission with Grant Agreement n. 785219 for the 2013-2023 period.
The project concerns the study of electromagnetic and photoacoustic properties of different families of 3D graphene-based (nano-porous, nano-onions, aerogel, mesoscopic sponges) materials. Both their optical response from terahertz to visible for flexible optics and their capability to transform light in sound and ultrasound will be investigated (photoacoustic effects). The technological applications of those materials for head speakers and radiation detectors will be also investigated.
Eligible applicants should hold a PhD in Physics or Material Science. Preference will be given to candidates with proven expertise in the physical and chemical properties of 3D carbon-based aereogel materials, 2D and 3D carbon nanotubes, optics, terahertz and photoacoustic. The successful candidate will be fluent in English.
The selected candidate will join the IIT Graphene Labs directed by Prof. Vittorio Pellegrini. The activity will be mainly carried out in Rome in collaboration with Prof. Stefano Lupi – Università di Roma La Sapienza.
The closing date for applications is February 15th, 2018 and applications, including CV and names of two referees should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org quoting “Post doc Graphene Flagship WP13 – CB 74991” in the subject line.
Please note that this position is contingent on the signature of the relevant Grant Agreement
