The Nanomaterials for Biomedical Applications Research Line at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), under the supervision of Dr. Teresa Pellegrino, in collaboration with the Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori (INT, reference person Dr. Ettore Seregni), invites applications for one junior postdoctoral position which will focus on radiotherapy and radioimaging experiments that employ inorganic nanocrystals.
Eligible candidates should have recently obtained a Ph.D. and Master Degree in medicine, nuclear medicine or cancer biology and should have previous experience in animal handling and radiochemistry.
The candidate will work in the framework of the ERC project ‘Colloidal Inorganic Nanostructures for Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy’ (ICARO), focusing on radiotherapy efficacy studies on murine models of radiolabeled materials (mainly radioisotopes in order to employ are 64Cu and 177Lu).
The ICARO project is funded by the European Union's H2020 ERC Programme with Grant Agreement N° 678109.
Furthermore, the candidate will also be involved in in vivo magnetic hyperthermia experiments. For such activities, the ideal candidate will have already gained good experience in animal handling. Experience in radiochemistry laboratory is also strongly recommended. The ability to use microPET is also a preferential requirement.
Creativity and motivation to conduct research are mandatory, as are good communication and writing skills in English.
Workplace: IIT, Genoa (first year) and INT, Milan (second year).
