Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) is seeking a chemist or a material scientist with a strong background in functionalization of inorganic nanoparticles, polymer synthesis and preparation of inorganic nanoparticles.
The selected candidate will focus on the preparation of thermo‐responsive or porous silica magnetic nanoplatforms with control over the size, shape, composition, biodegradability and colloidal stability.
The candidate should also have experience in the functionalization of nanoparticles with targeting units. He/she must have a degree and/or PhD background in chemistry and/or biochemistry with consolidated expertise in the field of polymer science/inorganic coating. Experience in polymer chemistry and biochemistry (FT‐IR, NMR, TGA, optical and magnetic instrumentation methods, electrophoresis techniques, chromatography separations, polymer synthesis etc.) is required.
The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team of chemists, biologists, physicists and engineers.
The PI lab (the group of Nanomaterials for Biomedical applications), which is located in Genoa, carries out world class research in the development of nanomaterials for biomedical applications, in the state‐of‐the‐art laboratories equipped with magnetic, fluorescent and polymer characterization techniques. .
The candidate will work in the framework of the project Advancing glioblastoma therapy: nanoparticles for magnetic hyperthermia, heat-mediated drug delivery and tumor targeting, supported by the AIRC Grant 2017. (Id. 20790).
Creativity and motivation to conduct research are mandatory, as well as good communication skills in English.
