Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT (www.iit.it) is opening a post-doctoral position with focus on “Development of ultrasmall-in-nano theranostics” to work on the project “Biodegradable noble metal-based nano-architectures as theranostics agents over head/neck neoplasms” supported by AIRC Grant MFAG 2017” (project n. 19852 - CUP J53C18000010007).
The nature of the project is multidisciplinary and its aim is the development and application of an all-in-one nanoplatform for innovative diagnosis and treatment of head/neck neoplasms.
The research will involve the production of inorganic nanoparticles by employing the ultrasmall-in-nano approach, nanoparticle characterizations and in vivo application. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with national and international partners.
The selected candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Valerio Voliani at the Center for Nanotechnology Innovation (CNI) in Pisa. The CNI is an interdisciplinary R&D center dedicated to the investigation and exploitation of phenomena at the nanoscale.
The ideal candidate should have previous experience in either chemical production of metal nanomaterials or medical applications (in particular: photoacoustic imaging, X-ray CT, PET, MRI, chemoradiotherapy). Experience on cell cultures as well as on in vivo investigations is a plus for this position.
Previous post-doctoral research experience is not mandatory. We require excellent communication skills in English, as well as marked enthusiasm for research and creativity. We value scientists who can interact effectively with an interdisciplinary team, have a high degree of independence and take accountability for their project.
The successful candidate will be offered an internationally competitive salary commensurate to qualifications and experience.
Please apply by March 10, 2018.
