Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT (www.iit.it) is opening a post-doctoral position on printed electronics for biomedical applications, with the aim of developing biocompatible polymer and hybrid printed electronic devices, such as electrolyte gated transistors working in an aqueous environment, implantable sensors and biodegradable/edible circuits, for future advanced healthcare applications.
The candidate will fabricate polymer and hybrid devices by means of printing techniques, to develop their architecture for improved performances and stability, to test their in vitro operation and to collaborate on the assessment of their biocompatibility.
This research activity will be carried out at the “Center for Nano Science and Technology” of the Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in Milan (Italy), in collaboration with the “Printed and Molecular Electronics” group (https://www.iit.it/lines/printed-and-molecular-electronics) under the supervision of Dr. Mario Caironi.
Eligible applicants are required to have a PhD either in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering (Energy, Physics, Chemistry, Materials, Electronics).
Proven experimental expertise in the development of bioelectronics devices, especially based on organic semiconductors will be considered an asset, as well as laboratory skills in solution processing/printing of semiconductors and devices fabrication and characterization.
The successful candidate must be fluent in English.
The closing date for applications is January 27, 2018 and applications, including a cover letter, CV and names of 2 referees should be sent to email@example.com quoting “Post doc on printed electronics for biomedical applications CB 74776” in the subject line.
Salary will be commensurate to qualifications and experience and in line with international standards.
IIT was established in 2003 and successfully created a large-scale infrastructure in Genova and a network of 10 state-of-the-art laboratories countrywide with an international staff of about 1100 people from more than 50 countries. IIT's research endeavour focuses on high-tech and innovation, representing the forefront of technology with possible application from medicine to industry, computer science, robotics, life sciences and nano-biotechnologies.
