The Center for Micro-BioRobotics (CMBR), an IIT-Network Center based in Pontedera (Italy), is opening a Postdoctoral position in the area of “Soft and Bioinspired Robotics” within the European Commission funded project RoboCom++ (“Rethinking Robotics for the Robot Companion of the future”).
The main objective of this research area is to develop novel soft robotics solutions taking inspiration from living organisms and natural principles. Particular emphasis is given on distributed sensing, soft actuation and control. These soft robots will integrate smart composite, functional materials and flexible electronics to improve their flexibility, compliance and capability to interact with the environment.
Based on targeted applications, research activities can leverage the excellent CMBR facilities as well as collaborations. International candidates are encouraged to apply.

The prospective candidate has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or related fields.
He/she is expected to: publish research papers; attend international conferences; proactively perform research in a multidisciplinary working environment (encompassing e.g. engineers, material scientists, and biologists); be able to set-up, follow, monitor and oversee his/her personal research plans; supervise PhD students.
