Fondazione Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia – IIT (www.iit.it) is opening a post-doctoral position in the framework of the Future & Emerging Technologies flagship project on graphene and other 2d crystals, Graphene Flagship (http://graphene-flagship.eu/) funded by the European Commission with Grant Agreement n. 696656 for the 2013-2023 period.
A post-doctoral position is currently available to work in the context of Enabling Research of the Graphene Flagship (graphene-flagship.eu) funded by the European Union under the umbrella of IIT Graphene Labs (http://graphene.iit.it) in strong collaboration with partners of the Graphene Flagship.
The candidate will work to develop theoretical and computational approaches in order to predict, using first-principles electronic structure methods, the transition temperature of charge density waves instabilities and the softening of the phonon dispersion with temperature. She/he will apply such approaches to the CDW instabilities in transition metal dichalcogenides and other 2D materials.
Eligible applicants hold a PhD in Physics. Expertise in theoretical solid-state physics, first-principles DFT calculations, phonon-phonon interaction, development of new methodological approaches is required.
The closing date for applications is March 31, 2017 and applications, including a cover letter, CV and names of two referees should be sent to email@example.com quoting “Post doc on CDW instabilities and phonons in 2D atomic-thick materials CB73543” in the subject line.
IIT was established in 2003 and successfully created the large scale infrastructure in Genova, a network of 10 state of the art laboratories countrywide, recruited an international staff of about 1100 people from more than 50 countries. IIT's research endeavour focuses on high-tech and innovation, representing the forefront of technology with possible application from medicine to industry, computer science, robotics, life sciences and nanobiotechnologies
